Agreed.
Sure would be nice to incorporate this knowledge into the trapper ed program.

For those that keep lots of records or remember things well, check to see what sex and age of the coons you typically catch. I find that the majority of not a large majority of my adult male coons don't chew, where the females and the young of the year chew considerably more. My non body grip coons are caught in 1.5 coils and are either on dry land or water but on drags so none drown. I now have a few dozen 1.5 coils with the Rich Kasper double jaw setup for coon that I will work with this fall.

not sure how someone commenting that either post or let it be, is "beating up" someone.

no secret wright, told it many a time before, on this forum. just don`t need the arguments it won`ty work from those who don`t do it. so see no need get in the fray. not like I get paid for it, or even get any thanks. just arguments. hey , it`s te internet, most of us learn in time to just lurk for entertainment value and the rare gem ,till that guy goes to lurking too. I`ve even taken young fellas on my line ,just to later see them go nuts on the internert bad mouthing me, like jeff from dodge city. too many nut cases out there. and his buddy too, lol, both of them. so I don`t tell anyone anything anymore. now this will get deleted by the management I`m sure. you asked why, so just telling.

Your secret is safe with us, we have no buddies. Thought maybe it was on the vid, was ready to go library and get it.
Trouble with us is we're too dang addicted to this, and internet trapping. Heck many (me) still do it knowing full well there's a box full of sharp pencils at home.

Yep It's the #3 soft catch. That's all Bob uses so It has to be It. And with his 12:PM and 1:AM checks those coon aren't In those traps very long. We all know that once day light comes the trapped critter puts up more of a struggle to escape. I never caught a coon In a #3 softie so I won't comment. BUT there Is a lot of room under those jaws to allow It. It just goes back to the circulation thing If they feel pain they won't be so apt to chew. See I commented any way. Dam know I have to go out and buy all new #3 softies. And with buying 10 doz Duke DPs I'll be broke. It just never ends.

Just about when Bob decides to hang up the softys the live market will be gone anyway, good timing for Bob! I hear more states will be addressing the interstate commerce and transporting of wild critters soon. Diseases are a main focal point on this issue.

Your right 39. All my live market critters are sold daily In the state I catch them In. But I think that will also be short lived.

Does that mean he gets less chewing In those traps or does that mean less coon escape even though they chew? I assume you meant you have LESS chewing In the #3 softie.
