We bought the second pup of the year. This pup is nothing extraordinary. It is a distance dog (which are tougher to find because everyone is into sprint racing) and the breeder does not race. He does what I do. 20- 40 km. on a very regular basis. I had already bought a couple of pups off him 4 years ago. They are excellent dogs. He had a litter of two. When I contacted him, he had done a breed but he was not sure if it had taken. It didn't. Just prior to my call he'd had an accidental litter with an old female and male. He didn't think the female could still have pups. She had two. He was keeping one and a buddy the second. Buddy was too slow and breeder likes my dog philosophy. The lineage of this dog is "ancient Lac St-Jean.' Here's the story: Lac St-Jean has always had sled dogs and dog races. It is know for distance races of 30/50/300 miles on the lake. One year "the Americans" arrived and won all the races. The locals were insulted and peeved because they had lost their local race. One local goes to Household Fiance Company, borrows 25 thousand and HITCHHIKES to Alaska. He does the tour and buys 24 dogs. he then calls home and gets a pal to drive up to Alaska and get him as well as the dogs. Once back home he sold 7 dogs to pay for expenses and kept the rest. The pup is a decendent. The dog is a 7 week old male.

Dog looks good. Was down to HBC retail in Winnipeg, the flagship store, it houses the Manitoba Sport Hall of fame. There is only one person selected for DOG RACING, back in the 30's, he did move back your way but Manitoba did recognise him ;sorry forgot to take a pic.

50: I would be curious as to whether it was for sprint racing or distance racing. Everyone is into sprint racing these days. We eat fast, drive fast, hurry here, hurry there. I know a local woman that is a pretty good racer. She clocks her team at 43 km an hour. She's a 6 dog/6 mile sprinter. A race is about 12 minutes long. It takes her longer to hook up the dogs than it does to ride the sled. I find that a lot of work for not much sled time. But the quest for $$ does that to people. A good sprinter goes for thousands. The purse is often in thousands. But hundreths of a second decide the winners. From first place to fifth might be less than 3 seconds apart. Then you're out of the money and into the "prizes." This pup is not that. None of my dogs are. Distance is what I want. This dog will look nordic. Ears will be up and it has a really good coat. Gotta love a puppy. That should be it for dog buying this year. That is unless a jagd or cool cur pops onto my lap.

have someone that wants to breed a bitch to Buddy- been thinking strongly of doing it for a pup and not the fee- I miss having puppies around.

Steve: Think "puppy breath." They do have a breath that says "puppy."
Breeding for a stud fee won't be as rewarding as a puppy. I'd be breeding for first pick of the litter.
