We got a pretty good sprinkle of snow the other day. Yesterday was the first chance I had to cut the dog in the wind, she took advantage, and then layed around like a bum for another day. It's settled down to 12-15" now. A good workout.

Redsnow: That's why you need a brace. They take turns breaking trail!

LOL- thats buddy as well- when we are walking to check sets- heaven forbid he be behind us- but when returning to truck, whos always missing? Same deal on mine if I'm making a set the dog is right up in it but when I get ready to leave she disappears. I would have probably shot this thing if it wasn't the womans baby. I can't imagine having a brace of dogs who won't behave. The rabbit hunting is fun but trying to make a beagle mind isn't. Going from a cur to a beagle is very frustrating. You give a cur a dirty look and they behave for a month.

You know, I've been thinking about getting another one. Not sure?, she's 5 or 6 now, pretty good bunny dog. Hard-headed as H, but likeable, almost hard to get mad at. I'll agree, of all the dogs I've ever had, she's been the most difficult to handle. I've caught many a butt-chewin for being late, because of her, but like mentioned above she's the family pet, and I don't dare leave her behind. Turn her loose. . . it's an all day situation., sometimes, you've got to shoot the bunny. She's never hunted with another dog, always on her own. Kind of head strong, guess that's ok, when we have time.
Tman, watched the video of Buddy, dang, it'd take 2 or 3 hours per circle. lol. First of the year, i've got a few places to hunt, might take a day or 2, see if we can put a snowshoe on the run. They're fun.

it does seem like that at times LOL- that was a cold trail, once wamred up, he moves it at a good walk. THe runs tend to be shorter distancewise with slower dogs- often in tight cover, they never get out of sight. I used to run 3-6 small pakc when hunting, and the pack enthusiam would keep the bunny moving pretty good.
Hes not a snowhoe dog, no doubt about that!
ever notice how a good snow dog, works tracks visually as well as by scent?

The dog does have a good set of eyes, I know some of her best chases were made in snow. Can't really say that she visually ran the track, maybe? Always figured it had more to do with humidity, temp. Seems the warm, dry days are when she has trouble picking up a track after she over-runs it. I'd say she's "medium" speed, almost always within a couple feet of the track.
