Caught a 30 pounder today. That's on the big side for around here. What's it like elsewhere?

Guess one of our western boys must have migrated there, but he did loose 10 pounds doing so. What is the boarding length ? The DNA on otter work being carried out has some interesting results on their movements.

Not a great photo. The pliers are there for size reference.

I was bird hunting today by the outlet of an old dried up beaver pond. It so happened I was carrying an old iron sighted .22.
Four otters came down the brook. Three of them came home with me. The biggest weighed 20 pounds which is about as big as any I get.
Last week one day I had two incidental otter in beaver traps. I have five otter already and haven't yet set a trap for one!

That is as big as they get here. Know of one 30.5 lber caught around here, but most big males are 22-25 lbs.

biggest so far here in Ky was 24lbs, but a friend of mine caught one that was 29lbs, and I believe he still had the tag in his ear, but no word about the release site from f&g.

I think the biggest I ever weighed was 26 pounds with many in that 22 23 pound range.
