Guy called me up and offered to sell me his line. Since it was pretty close to the second line (which is pretty close to the first!) we worked out a deal. The camp is a bit of a disappointment. It smells terribly of dampness. There is zero view with no windows to not look at it. There is also a new roof to be put on. The chainsaw will be quite popular, too. The line is 90 clicks of bush. It is fairly deep in and the highway is a long walk in the event of car trouble. But every type of furbearer is there. And exclusive rights on 90 square km. is always a good thing. A few photos. As the plan figures now, the camp will be more of an emergency shelter. It might also become a storage site for a bike. The other camp is close enough that it will be the main base. Then again, once the carpet is chucked and the rest trimmed up who knows? That makes a total of 225 square km's that I can trap now exclusively. Plenty to get lost in.

With all your expansion the last couple of years, I hope the market turns around to allow you to take advantage of your opportunities. If a strong market ever comes back you will be in a good position. Have fun and good luck.

Sounds like some real good territory.
What is the land parcel shaped like?

It seems fairly rectangular. There are 20 lakes on it, 2 large rivers, and lots of ponds.
You can't go wrong buying it. If it doesn't work out - you sell it!
The market doesn't have to come back for this line to be useful. Marten sell, lynx sells, reds sell, weasels sell ... I'd like the price to go up but that's out of my control. What I'm happy about is that I'll do less driving in front of territory I can't trap.
The land areas sound big but in trap check times they are not. Once the weather is cold, with our killer traps, you can go to weekly checks. Those three lines will mean a total of three days of checking traps. They are long days but that's part of the game. That leaves 4 days for skinning and whatever.

Sounds good. Did you get the other guys hardware too?, think you got some antique/odd traps with the other property. Is it set up where you can trap it this season, already have trails cut, trap ready, etc?

Red: No equipment. The guy has 100 marten boxes out that are staying there. I've got his map!
Permission was given to me to trap it starting immediately. But it will be tough to do. I have a couple of dozen sets out but it's all hit and miss. I don't have anything scouted and the other 2 lines are taking lots of time. This is the kind of area where you really have to pay attention to the weather. A sudden snow storm and it's a major problem.
There does seem to be lots of trail. Buddy cut some and moose hunters cut the rest. As I said: lots of room to get lost in!
