Yesterday a friend of mine that lives about 2 miles down the road called me and asked if the snakes were out yet because something had bit his draft horse on the ass and it was expressing pus all over the place. I said no snakes for a while. He said well something has been coming into his yard and scaring all the animals and it has eaten some of his rabbits up on a small haystack. I say sounds like a bobcat to me, I'll come down with some cages and catch it before it gets the chickens and cats. He called me again before I could get down there and said something has got a hold of my other horses ass and my wife just opened up a huge pus pocket on it as well. So I go down there and there are just quarts of pus coming out of this horses hams. I walked around the house to where the rabbits were getting ate and sure enough lion tracks in the sand. So I called the Govt. guys today and they put a big cage trap up that they had built for this stuff. Tomorrow me and some friends are gonna take some hounds and poke around and see if we can catch the SOB. Fortunately it snowed this morning and there is still enough for a hunt tomorrow. I expect the snow to be gone tomorrow. If we get the SOB I'll post some pics. Shows the size of the animal Close up showing the wound and the drainage. Two big old paws grabbed each side of the tail. Kind of like how I've seen movies of African lions taking prey.

Get the dogs out Joel, if he's coming in that often he'll be close by. Just hope he isn't headed your direction. Hope you get him/her. Would like to see a pic of it. Bet it has health problems.

I would think that if he grabbed a draft horse by the a$$, he most likely has health problems now. I wouldn't want to get kicked by those waffle stompers.
were there any indications of hacked up lungs, or lion spleens laying about?
check for lion scat, he/she may be chitting out rib bones now. lol

The sick or old lions are oftentimes the ones in "close"...

Poor lion. It was his land first. You guys should move to town and live in a condo and let the animals have their homes back. And shame on your neighbors for holding those horses prisoners. Same for the sheep also. Fascists. Why can't you just "let nature take it's course".

Joel,
I was seeing if I felt all righteous and good by saying that stuff. . It just made me feel ignorant. I don't know how those people live within their sheltered little world. It would feel like a jail cell to me. ;D
The lion I caught rested up for a few days. Then he took off on a walk about, over two mountain ranges and 10 air miles away and made a kill!
