Perusing a few of the last posts. I wonder why Nevada does not allow nonresidents to trap cats? If there are large areas or "refugias" where little or no access, IE trapping, can take place. Than it would make little difference on the amount of fur harvested, other than each residents trappers catch would be diluted by the competition. Assuming equal abilities. If anything, with more nonresidents it should add up to more coyotes caught which equates to more "other" furbearers etc. Assuming I followed the logic in the posts correctly. i wish more states were like that honesty

Coloradocat; I have no intention of ever trapping beyond the northeast. Though I suspect you are right about some of the neighboring states trappers. It seems that some laws are made to protect the resource and others are drawn up for other reasons.

Joel, Yes, you should remove those coyotes before you feed them a bobcat..I always laugh at guys talking about how they do everything they can to avoid catching coyotes then complain when the coyote eats or destroys the bobcats they caught... I the last 2 or 3 hundred cats I've taken..NEVER had a coyote eat one.. HOWEVER I've had 2 eagles do so... your recomendations???

Not been trapping bobcats very long huh? (humor)
As for the eagles eating your bobcats...Live bobcats normally can defend themselves from an eagle. If your snaring your bobcats and using an extended check....You are just baiting the eagles and should expect these losses.

That's just the last "few years" worth... IN an area with a HEALTHY coyote population.... BOTH times the cats were killed by the eagles IN traps...and THAT is the reason I DONT snare in this area... AS my granddaddy used to say.... "Tum podem extulit horridulum " ... not sure WHAT it means.. but it MUST have some reference here.. ;D
