Joel,
Great pics.
As usual.
Your cats sure camo with the sage brush. Not a bad color to have.
What do you think took out the ram?

Big die off last year some sheep or goats got in with the herd and they got the pneumonia from them. The whole canyon died out.

Yeah that cat is furred like a lynx. We got a skiff last night. I caught that cat at about 8000 elevation probably be a bit more snow up there.

Nice pics Joel! Where are the spots? I just always knew you were a flatland trapper at heart. 'Cats are thick this year, aint they?

That cat has spots, just the hair is so long you can't see them at that angle. lol!! He's kind of like a lynx in that regard. I actually looked at his tail tip to make sure he wasn't a crossbreed or something.
I hope they're thick where you are Jeff, I'm just picking them off a couple at a time. Real sporadic, caught six one trip, zero the next, five the next, one the next, been like that all fall.
Not a cat under about three years old either, I've got a collection of big suckers, not one under 40 inches, not one!!

Joel,
Glad to see you are doing well!
I am on a section of line that in the past I have done really well on. Either somebody has been through here already or Robert W. is right on with the decreased population stats.
At least the weather has held off - for now!
See ya -

Yeah Gene, it looks like no reproduction for two years now. The weather could be a godsend.
As fat as these cats are it's obvious that all they have to do is lay down with their mouths open and wait for prey to enter.
This weather might make them actually have to get off their asses and move around a bit.

Joel, am I looking across at Sulfur? Or Black Rock Point? Good to see someone is finding them. I have yet to touch one this year. Don't know what to think about the situation. Got some good storms coming through now, maybe that will help.

I think that might be called Fandango, it's in California so I don't pay much attention. I was reading a book about Shoshone Mike up in camp last week and they talked about him and Fandango pass.
Have you ever read that book? I heard about Shoshone Mike when I was trapping out of Wells. He lived up around Rock Creek in Twin Falls, left the reservation and moved down by Jackpot. One os his son's got shot dead so they killed some white men and took off across Northern NV and went over to Northern California. They got caught butchering cattle in little high rock canyon so they killed the stockmen. Well they formed a posse out of Eagleville and trailed them around for a few months and had a big battle North of Battle Mtn. and Winnemucca where they killed most of the band except a couple of kids.
That was around 1911.

Supposedly you can still see the bloodstains on the floor of the church in Cederville where the stockmens bodies thawed out. Cant say for sure just heard it.
