I allways have trouble getting it to a paste consistency or at least with out the string clumps in it. Any tips from you lure makers ? Also any thoughs on green vs semi dried castor for beaver lure ?

Why not just cut open the green castors scrape out the contents and add glycerin to make a paste and use. Why go through all the drying and grinding process. Use It like the beaver does. Well it's worked that way for me for over 30 years.

I semi dry all the castor a few days prior to processing for later use in lure formulation. It depends on your grinder plate size as to the size of your finished product. I run through a 3/8" hole plate first then regrind through an 1/8th inch plate. This gives you a nice working consistency. As beav states adding the needed amount of glycerine to the castor will give you a paste like consistency if it isnt over done. To acheive more paste like you may need to add a commercial thickener/binder to the batch. Simple corn or potato starch will suffice just to absorb some moisture. A gum or cellosize type product is best if you are real particular in the final result.
