NorCal has one of the highest mountain lion population densities in the country. That dude blends in well. I've tried to point out lions and bobcats sunning themselves on rockpiles on mountainsides to people who were with me before, even had the Leica spotting scope set right on where they were layed up and had them say, "I don't see him".

Here kitty, kitty, kitty... While winter range is probably still our number one mule deer problem, I expect lions are coming in a close second. I'm surprised FWS can catch much of anything with the lions they have in that country. Guess its just as well you can't use footholds. They'd all be tied up or blown apart by big cats.
