I guess so you can pick the one you like best. Really not sure but you might have to use a stick too big for the two notches closer to the jaw and you will need the third notch. I seem to use the closest notch more because they seem to not fire on your fingers so much. mike

Well the way I that I under stand it the three notches are for trigger tention. The first one has the most tention and is used in running water. The last one is the lightest one and used the most for mink trails. The way I used the sticks is 1 through the spring eye to hold it in place and I use a smaller one between the jaws to stabilize the trap. The easiest way that I have found to trap rats under ice is to look for a trail of bubbles under the ice. It will show you where the den is. chop a hole in the ice and place your 110 in the intrance. Stake it the way I described above. He will be there in the mourning or later that day. Also you can put and 1/4 slice of an apple on the trigers in a place near to where the rats are travleing. When they see it, they will go up to it and take a bite you have them. Hope this helps. John

FivePointsJohn nailed it, the sticks are for stabilizing your trap. I like the steel stabilizers better. mike

Nick Bower makes about the neatest 110 holder I have seen for underwater and under ice use. The Magician- basically what it is- is a holder for a 110 that fits over a rebar stake. The 110 fits into 2 slots and the end of the holder slips over a stake and can be set in any postiion on the stake. The 110 can then be adjusted to any height. I useually just slip the chain onto the rebar under the Magiciain- saves another stake and/or wire. Makes setting a 110 just about everywhere a 1 minute task.
In fact- I liked em' so much- I now sell them... ;D
