Talked to Gerald- and he says they are aware of the problem and it is being taken care of on the manufactoring end, and will not be a problem in the future.
Until then- Gerald is inspecting all chains before they go into the box.
He also says that anyone that has a bad chain or chains- let him know (or me know) and you will get a replacement chain at no cost to you.
For those concerned- a visual inspection will show if any bad links are present.

Thanks for passing the info along Steve. After handling them & studing them real quick, I knew they was the heaviest-best made production- out the box traps I ever saw.,not counting the $25 or more a trap, special machines that I be skeered to leave overnight in most places I trap, lol I only bought 2 of the Montanas at conv. to fool w/ & test out to see how I liked the dogless set up down here, one had a good chain, one had a couple bad links.I'll tend to it myself as I dont mind makin chain setups,Im just glad John&Gerald are takin care of it& using better chain now, cause it seem to be the only weak spot in a great trap. I am adding a shock spring to them so I really don't care if some links are bad. I will cut the out.
