I have never used shellfish oil, but I have used Paul Dobbins Pressed Salmon oil by itself and had good results with it.

I wouldnt trap without shellfish oil myself, I think it makes that much difference over salmon or fish oil. Both are a great carrier for shellfish, and keep it from dissapaiting too fast, and makes it go alot farther. Add shellfish oil to your fishbait and watch them dig ,dig dig!

What about trailing scent for Mink, would shellfish be beneficial there also or just staight oil?
Just a word on Fish Oil, I had a PM discusion with Paul Dobbins over it and he was telling me that the best Salmon Oil you can buy is the stuff that comes from Salt Water Salmon hence the price difference from dealer to dealer. So if your buying beware that the real cheap stuff may not be top of the line.
I'm gonna experiment with Salmon (salt water), Herring and Menhayden oil this fall for trailing Mink and maybe a few special spots for Otter. Maybe adding a bit of Shellfish oil to these may enhance it.

Like was said before...shellfish is worth it. It puts the "LD" in LDC. ;D

Edge, LOL...probably in 95% of the lures out there, ole' Pepe puts the "L" in LDC. The shellfish is really strong too though. ;D

If you are looking for a cheap but good trailing scent for coon. Add 1 oz. of shellfish oil to a gallon of used deepfryer oil. The used oil has lots of food odor to it and can be gotten for free. Works great.
