In another thread I noticed that the subject of foot preference came up. I know that it's been mentioned before but I don't remember the outcome. Do you think that canines have a foot preference? Does a stopped fox always start walking with a preferred leg? Do they dig with a preferred foot?

Does your dog allways start off with the same foot?

I'm going to be watching. I believe they do but I haven't really paid attention.

I don't believe that they are left footed or right footed. With so many variables at each set, I don't think that its much more than how you offet/setback your trap. If you always have a right hand offset at a hole set, logic would indicate that you'd get more by the right front foot.
In walkthroughs- it can and is any foot....

I've been watching and I'm starting to believe that some of my dogs have a preference to start walk on a certain foot. even if they are turning left, from a complete stop, one will start on the right foot. When they run, one foot is ahead of the other ....but anyone with a dog already knew that!
Now does any of this matter with regards to trapping? Probably not!

Make a digging situation and see which foot they put their weight on and which they use to dig when they first come to the hole, that will tell you if they are right or left footed , so if he is reaching in the hole for something which foot will be on the ground near the hole if he is right footed? When your dog chews a stick which foot is on top of the stick and on the bottom? or are these dead end Questions?

Any critter thats left-side dominant is smarter than his right side dominant cousins. I'm sure about 6% of you agree with me.

17, any reason why, you can think of? Your sets DH, set straight in? Step downs? DH offset one side? Flat sets? Interesting.

Mostly dirt holes with a simi step down, but this is going to make me look like more of a dumb A, as I thought I was targeting the right foot, offset always a little to the right. LOL

targeting the right and stil got the majority left, interesting. I get probably 90% left , but i set for the left so it really doesn't count.

17: Thanks for checking. I was asking because of how females "back spray."
