::)ok i am in the process of getting some steele for coyotes and fox! the max inside diameter in this state is 5 5/8 inches inside.. i have a few #2 bridgers and like them but i think they are a little large for red and grey fox. was wondering about the BMI k9 wolfers and the sleepy creek 1 3/4 offsets how do these hold up to the big coyotes? and another thing offset or not offset TEXT

If you are looking for 1.75- you cannot go wrong witrh the Dukes> ask for the new style when ordering- a good trap at a fair price- and don't let anytone tell ya' they don't hold coyotes..they do..

I don't think the Sleepy Creek is near the trap that the Duke and Victor 1.75 are. I believe the Wolfer is going to be discontinued so me, personally, would stay away form them.
Did you have noticable problems with the #2 on the fox? A lot of guys use them and love them. I caught a few fox in #2 Bridgers and never had a problem.

As the weather got worse I switched from my 1.5s and 1.75s to #2s saw no difference in damage, I also caught and released some barn cats, they were no worse for the wear in the #2s.

It would depend on which I had more of , Fox? or Coyote? If Fox I opt for the 1 3/4 . If Coyote I'd want the No.2 Bridger. If I was going to catch any Coyotes in either of these traps I would at least baseplate and make sure I had good swivels, fourcoiling could always come later along with laminating as needed.....B.....

Tried some of the new dukes first time in alooong time Liked the idea of the forged jaw and price, but you new there had to be a but My problem with them is the dog arm that holds the dog bending after catches, coyotes flopping them around and beating them on hard ground, would reset them and pan would be way high or so low you couldn't set the trap. If they could go to heavier stock, they would have a good compramise trap for fox and coyote, I did base plate mine and used music wire springs on them, with heavy welded link chain, I guess I'm too stuck on the real coyote machines sterlings, coyote cuffs, but I will conceed they are getting a little better with there traps. Did I say that

LOL- yes, you really said that!
The dogs are the week point- I just carry a pliers and bend them back. I have heard a few people weld #9 wire along the dog to strengthen it.

Try the #3 double long spring, base-plated, center-swiveled on either a 7' drag or short chain with double stake swivel. Will hold fox as well as coyote. I like the cast jaw, but regular jaws work just as well.Worm

Spoke to Bill for about an hour yesterday. Big plans in thr future. CD , the double jaws are only production run once a year , but next run is going to be the way you were asking about. The new 1.75s are going to have a longer spring on to 4 coil. And is working on getting a stronger steel for crossframe ;D the big news is in the near future there will be a factory 1.75 baseplated and 4 coiled. Tried to convince him we needed a sq. jaw 2 or 3 from him. Dont know if it worked. Alot of changes he has in mind. Just cant get over how he is willing to swap ideas with the common trapper I believe someone said somewhere that he is going to be the big trap company in the near future. i believe if he stays with it like this that will be! Also told him to go to machine chain on at least the factory modified 1.75s. When you speak , Bill listens...............
