I was told by a good caller, that it doesn't matter WHAT you sound like when calling, if you think you are close to a dying rabbit, crying baby- you are going to get some coyotes.
Point being -get out there and CALL!
What are your guys thoughts?
I know when I call in the ohuse, it brings in the cat AND the grandkids...LOL

LOL, good advice! You got to get out there and just do it! I once saw a young son of one of my clients who wanted to try his hand at calling on one of our stands. I said sure, give her a whirl. He stated calling with some of the worst noises i ever heard come out of a hand call, and his dad and uncle were almost rolling with laughter as he just kept at it. Within minutes a lion came running into view running past BOTH the dad and uncle( who were unprepared for the shot) and the boy shot his lion! You cant call them if you dont try.

"I was told by a good caller, that it doesn't matter WHAT you sound like when calling"
as long as it distress sounds...coyote vocalizations are a whole different ball game.

Michigan coyotes have never heard a praire dog in distress but they respond to it quite well.I haven't formed a firm opinion on howling yet but so far it only has worked at night; and only rarely.

Yes, drew, I definitely meant distress sounds.
I think, at this budding stage of my calling career, I will leave howlers alone. I know a man that is on the quest for the perfect howler, has has several custom made by "the big guys" and still hasn't found one that does all he wants it to do WHEN he wants it. Hes close.
I have to say, I love listening to someone good on a howler, it sends chills up my spine. But from what I can see, plenty of room for mistakes and I think I'd spook more than I attracted.
