OK Bob I need to know about your product "new mown hay". What the heck is that all about? I have at times put fresh hay in my trap box with my canine traps. Keeps them from rattling around and is a natural odor.

K9, new mown hay is an essential oil privately developed initially but now is available retail. It was originally formulated to duplicate a fresh cut hay fragrance which is attractive to all vegatative eating animals. Deer, rabbits, groundhogs, beaver, nutria, rats etc. all have shown interest in this odor.It possesses a strong odor and quite different in aroma.
I have never tried it for the application of which you refer with respects to trap storage. I dont know if it would work or cause a problem with diggers or not. You may be onto something though. But I cant speak from experience on its use in that manner.
I have used Earthy Fragrance at times to make a set really reek of being freshly dug out and it works great. This essential oil is used heavily in the Deer Scent Industry as a cover/masking scent. We formulate with this product and sell many gallons a year to other Deer Lure Companies for that specific use.

Makes sense. I just had to ask because I have never seen it before. None of my business but you are consistenly giving good advice on this forum, as do many of the lure and bait guys, among others. I had to search around for a link to your products and it would be nice if you would be able to just put it in your signature.
I appreciate that you are not trying to shamelessly promote your products here, but guys like me like to check such things out.
When I see good advice from someone like you, Stef, Steve, or any other person on this forum I want to know more about them and thier services/products. If they have good advice then I am usually correct in assuming that they have good products.
Rich Kaspar also has a catalog that he emailed me, that is worth a look. Maybe I am out of line, Steve will tell me if I am, as it is his house here. I for one as a regular on this forum like to check you guys out and it is nice to have that link to do so.
If I am buying something, I am more likely to patronize a forum member rather than go somewhere else.

k-9, since you are a regular user on this forum, Steve put a special section long time ago on the forum where Bob and others put their site links for all the forum members for free.
Everybody on here will find what they are looking for there.
Go on the links section and check in the trapping supply dealers.
Hope that help?...LoL

I have been there before Stef but I am a creature of habit. I check this page and the calling page, and that is about it. For example I am far more likely to click on your link in your signature, than to go down and find it.
By the way, the red fox picture on your line is extremely cool. I think yours is the only bi lingual site I have been to, also very cool.
Many of these guys who are giving great advice, a reader may not even know sells products or has a web site. When I see a link right on thier information, then I know. It is very subtle, not a shameless plug, and the reader does not have to hunt for it.
I make alot of my own stuff, and am primarily a window shopper. But each year I try a little something different, a new lure, a new bait, and I usually go to something I know a little about.
I have already decided I will be trying some of Bob's lures, not because I know much about them, but because I like the info he is putting out, no BS so I presume his lures will be the same.
The same would apply to you Stef. You used to have a guy here in Iowa selling for you, I think now Steve Gappa is the closest one. Your lures are good, but even more appealing to a guy like me is the fact that I kind of "know you" through this forum. I know your info to be good so the lure is likely to be also.

Shhhhhhuuuttttttt...LoL
Yes the new website is online since yesterday but there's many errors right now. Some links don't work... logos missing.. some of last year pics as still there.
It should be fixed today...I hope.
Of course the link on the signature does help, I'm sure of that and on this.... I'm like you...LoL If I see a link below a name that I did not check, I will check that out.
Thanks
Stef

K9, I am relatively new to Steve's forum and must say I have visited others as well but I am very impressed with the quality of the members and the advice and opinions shared as a result of obvious field experience. I feel I fit in much better here with the likes of Stef who I can relate and as well as a few others who I have known for many years.
I am an old timer that sits in the shadows but I have paid my dues and hope to have many more active years. As do many others here I have a great passion for what I do. As Bob Wendt has alluded I to would like to leave some footprints while I am still able.I believe most that have gone down the trail as long as we have the thoughts of giving something back. This has become very important to me in recent years.
I have been very reluctant and a bit uncomfortable to post much on other forums to any great degree due to my obvious business ties in this field. I am a low profile man so I just do what I do and dont feel I need to blow my horn at my age. I am quite comfortable here for the short time I have been able to visit and contribute as time permits and I look forward to reading of other experiences.
I have posted our web site on the Supply/Dealers page as Stef pointed out with a brief description of our products which are far too many to go into great detail. I do understand the convenience of putting a web address under your heading or posting. I am not quite sure how to do that or I would. I will have to check into that.
There is a wealth of information shared here which I think some may not fully comprehend its value or truly understand its meaning until they have reached a certain level of maturity as a trapper.
Steve's diligence and great interest in trapping has provided a great medium for all of us to share, meet and learn from each other. His efforts will significantly help to teach and perpetuate the interest in our sport for future generations.

Its the experienced guys that make this forum what it is. Do not think I am unaware that many experienced trappers, post primarily here. Its a fine line between promotion and and exploitation- and I think that 99.9% of the time that line is observed. Thank you. On rare occasions (such as so and so sells the best dye, wax, etc... buy traps here, etc) I delete or modify the post- generic products need no promotion. I do ask that you keep thread titles generic, rather that addressing them to individuals (on the trapping page). I find that limiting a thread to specific people, discourages replies.

"Passion" I think you hit the nail on the head Stef. I think this forum has the MOST PASSIONATE members for trapping and thats what makes it so great. My friends laugh at me cause they'll see me thinking real hard at work in the middle of the summer and ask me what I'm thinking about and I'll tell them I just came up with a new set LOL

I find myself really having a hard time having conversations with people who don't trap. It is kinda sad in a way...
