What modifications are recommended when using the #2 longspring for water trapping (coon, mink, muskrat, nutria)?

I center swivel mine. On the Victors there is already a hole in the frame that will accept a swivel rivet then I attach a universal swivel, three links of chain and an end swivel.
I normally bend the trap dog up at an angle 10 degrees (end is filed for crisp release) and file the pan notch down for a short drop release. The pans are tightened down to where they still drop freely but do not have any side play in them.
All jaw tips are turned up (use vise grips) as I catch several otter and beaver each year in my coons sets along with the occasional coyote. Otter and coyote will bend the trap frame a "little" (slide cable takes most of the abuse) but with jaws tips bent up they have always held so far.
