I know you live market guys can collect it through the v-shaped pan that runs into a 5 gal. bucket or whatever you use, but is it possible to collect pee from a dispacted animal? Here we dont have the live market and was wondering if you could extract it like you do skunk esscence? If you can were can I find detailed info on the process. Thanks in advance. Hatch

sometimes fox and coyote will have some left in the bladder, usually not. bobcats you can get a bunch usually. just be sure to carry the cat rear end up in the truck or it leaks out after death. easiest withdrawel is after skinning just cut the belly open.

I get a fair amount of urine from reds after dispatch. After skinning, open up the abdominal cavity, being careful not to cut too deep. If the bladder is full it will be obvious. Carefully separate the bladder from the connecting tissues until all you have left is the urethra. Then pinch it off and cut above the pinch - pour into a clean bottle.

Bob, is it me, or does it seem like the majority of the females wind up releasing their urine durring dispatch? Or maybe while caught.. Almost every male i caught this yr, i got quite abit of urine out of, but hardly nothing from the females... Any idea why???

I have a buddy that snares and then keeps in a box trap till the next day every cat he catches, then kills and skins fresh the next day. he says they just sit there all night and don`t pee and all the bladders are big as softballs by the next day. he caught 99 cats this last jan/feb and never bought any pee that I know of. makes sense to me but I`d just as soon kill at the trap and get my pee easier ways.
