I also find I have less misses with my 9" Dukes. But It just stands to reason you have less travel before the jaws close so you should have more behind the head catches and less misses like on rats .
I asked this same question about more live catches In the magnum type traps over the regular jawed traps. It's happened to me many times especially In trail sets for coon. All my 160 Beliels went north. I would rather set a Duke or a Bridger with regular jaws.

Bridger are just a real nice trap aint they. I do like having a few of the larger BMI's at some wider dens. On 160's, i got some new dukes, and damn little things are harder on your hand than a 330, strong springs. I screwed up and popped one on my hand. Only thing that kept me from crying, is the dogs where watching me and just got done taking a beating from a coon in a hole before they got it out, and I didnt want to look like a sissy in front of them after what they just went through. I wanted to go home and curl up on couch and suck my thumb, they wanted to keep hunting. Them dukes kill a squirrel plenty quick, which is thinner than anything i want to keep so dont see any probs with them.
