An old time trapper that spent a lot of time trapping mink, coon and rats on one of the larger rivers here told me to look to the sunny side in very cold weather.

without a doubt the sunny side in cold weather- its the difference between having a set froze over and one thats still working. make a set on a high sheer bank, and it really makes a difference. I'll splash water all around the set- right down to the dirt- the black also makes a difference.
