I agree with you Steve.
And yes lure attract muskrat, that's for sure but its not needed most of the time. But you wrote something that i need to reply...
In the spring, when water level move every day on a large scale.. its mating season..... A good muskrat gland scent/lure will give you more rats FASTER. Not on a everyday basis.... just when the conditions are rough... I believe a couple sets lured with gland scent will help you bring a couple more rats home. When the high water time is gone.... don't waste your time with lure sets... just need to block and guard with traps all good looking locations and you catch rats everyday.

stef- I'll bow to oyur experience- I've never trapped spring rats. For decades our season ended Dec 31, and for the last few years end of Feb- before the spring mating season.
