I'm with Tom when it comes to 330's,......... seldom do I find a beaver that gives me trouble. I'ts all a matter of having a good working knowledge of how to properly set things up. Trapping one beaver in the wrong place can make things more difficult when it comes to catching the rest.

See- now you are going to embarass me- yo uwil lbe expecting a fancy beaver trap.... Well, you know me..... I use now some #4 Victor double longsprings sent to me by Buzzard a few years ago more often than not. I also use #3 DLS, #3 Triumphs- a big beaver trap- and some #3 jump traps- actually the only jump traps I like. I'll use either castor mounds or blind sets.

See- now you are going to embarass me- yo uwil lbe expecting a fancy beaver trap.... It's all about the results right?? ;D If your beaver will put their foot in it, why not? Obviously, you feel more confidant and comfortable using footholds. That's what it's all about.

**This post is for newbies***
If oyu are using 330's,are on active beaver sign, and are not atching beaver, they may be square shy. This does not mean *you*screwed up,but someone made them square shy. Now you are relegated to snares or foothold traps;which are more than capable of taking flattails,in numbers larger than you're gonna wanna skin. The 330 is a great beaver trap, but there are situations where its use is counter productive.

Buzz,I would love to be back in the swamps, lakes and woods of Gods country.Unfortunately, even northern Minnesota beaver turn bad this time of year. Our swamps are actually pleasant places to be,Mosquitoes can be a problem. But with the frogs croaking and the turtles sunning themselves, swamp life this time of year is quite interesting. No snakes that want a piece of you,no gators trying to make a meal of you.Just bears, cougar and wolves. If this state ever eases its trapping regs to allow non-residents,you will have to make the great sacrifice and head this way. Tom

just wondering how far the beavers will travel to get to a castor mound on a river compared to a beaver pond.

Buzz,we are gonna have to come up with something.I am not getting any younger, now I am younger than steve--by a couple years. But then hauling beaver is a lot more work than hauling piddly ,flea infected yote or gophers.Though if you send him some more of those #4s ,he will get a good work out lol.
