Stef,
Ya might ought to give them a try............slim locks and cam locks are much harder on beaver even to the point of causing panic as far as the beaver is concerned. Once they panic they get a little rough with themselves........dont do that w/ Rhieckarts.

I been using them slim locks all spring, and I find no damage. Maybe its cause I neck snare, and because I want the fur. Ray

No offense Ray, but if you are purposly neck snarin beaver, you are missing alot of them also, and not totally using the effectivness of the snare.

Buzzard, thanks to let us know and thanks for the locks but save them .... I won't need them. Seriousely, i did snare a bunch of beaver on land but we're not allowed to do it. Maybe, there's a reason why our law are like this I did it and used it as an emergency tool only ... ;D The only way we are allowed to use snares here for beavers are under ice snaring, or any installations who will drowned the snared beavers. You should write a book Ray Stef

I use all three foothold, 330's and snares. Camlocks, slimlocks and riecharts, I get some damage with all, some Beaver are better than others. I've found if you give him lots of room he feels better and doesn't fight as hard, so I use 7 ' extension cables. I also use 330's in bling sets and scent mounds, if you pic the right location they can be deadly, they do have there limitations though and Beaver will become spooky around them. Footholds allow me to take the last Beaver or 2 in a colony. I save the castor back from the 1st large beaver I catch in a colony and it really makes getting the straglers a couple of weeks later easy . I agree with Buzz that front foot catch is easy and a back foot catch well it varys......B......

Now I have a few questions ;D 1.) Where do you place a snare for a neck catch? I usually have a bout a 8 inch loop and place right on the ground. 2.)So if are law says we have to ahve a 330 totally submerged it is illeagal to use at a scent mound? By the way I live in Iowa.

330s can be used at castor mounds when they are totally submerged. Not a problem--just need side blocking and 2 sticks--x---over top jaws. Tom
