The credit for this goes out to martinsmodified (Chris), I seen his demo in Oswego & thats how I learn how to make this.... Double stake traps Blend both traps with hay Add a ball of hay in the middle Finished set I then add some urine on the sides of the hay facing the traps & a very small amount on the top.

Nice pics Tim. I sometimes use them for yotes when the ground is froze hard and there is snow on the ground.

How do keep the hay from blowing away?

Tim try this for fun....
Put urine at 9 o'clock high and at 3 o'clock... put a lil gland lure at the base of the ball and make like a walkthrough effect ( not high) on both sides of the traps.
Good luck!

How do keep the hay from blowing away? It's not in the picture, but I use small sticks & shove the hay ball onto the sticks. It keeps the hay in place. The past 2 days have been VERY windy here & the hay never moved. Stef, I'll try it, but so far I'm 2 for 2 at 1 set. ;D

I like my dogs on the inside at the stakes. so there isn't no chance of flipping a foot out of the trap with the dog. I see you put yours on the out side. I've had fired traps before and I blame it on that. I turnd the dogs in and have'nt had that happen anymore.

Good point Larry, I never thought about that. From now on, I'll turn the traps.

Not for me... I make like a walkthrough so the dogs are touching let say the "wall " of the walkthrough on both sides.

Hey Stef. Do you have a picture of your hay set? I'm confused about what is different with yours.

Somewhere..LoL but here's a little help. Its about the same as Tim but i believe that I have less misses using more guides. Also, i use it only in the winter the hay set "on top" on heavy snow with good results especially on foxes... Coyotes.... its a little hard but works well with them when the hay is completely covered of snow. I like #3 Coil spring trap for this kind of set Good luck and hope my little work below helps you understanding the hay set better ;D

I don't recall of hearing any talk about a hay set until a few years ago when Creekboy did a post about it and now everyone seems to be using the set.

hay ninny- as long as they are catching them it just goes to show you can teach old dogs new tricks- but stef's pics are exactly like creekboy makes them as i have run his line and seen with my own eyes -creekboy has been using this set for over a decade

one thing is a cinch, if anyone wants anything for themselves, they can`t make a video about it or post it on the internet.
