I guess I should ask why is this a big deal? I catch at least half a dozen coyote & bobcat doubles each winter, sometimes as close as they are in that picture.
Those big older toms are more than most coyotes care to mess with if they are by themselves and thye just seem to co-exist in the same (coyote type) habitat.

I caught a tom and a coyote 20 feet apart from each other. To bad your picture won't post. Would like to see it.

Cant see either pic.
Many times I have seen a big tom bobcat on a fresh elk road kill in the middle of the day, only to come back and see a couple of coyotes on it earlier or later that day. OOOPPPS!!!! Just gave away another great calling secret! Interstates+road kill deer/elk= 90% calling success!

no pic here either. a coyote is too sneaky and chicken heaerted to attack a cat single handed, but greedy enough to steal a bite. a cat is too lazy to attack a coyote ,and doesn`t give a crud anyway as he knows he can kick a coyotes arse if he is alone ,or takes a notion. I`ve many cat/coyote doubles over the years, and never had a cat killed by coyotes, even tiny cats and signs of whole packs of coyotes around them. the only cat killed by coyote stories I hear are lines where the cat is left in the trap for extended periods and about dead when the coyotes show up. or 220`d or snared ones ate after they die. and never had a coyote killed by a cat, but several times by other coyotes. I used to think territorial disputes, but no way, it was their mates or buds that got a killing frenzy just from hearing yelps and fighting. they can go off on a dime and often do. red fox, never seen where a yote didn`t kill every single one he found, but have had several coyote/fox doubles. I figure the fox always caught first, coyotre second, and found the open trap while circling the poor fox before going in. had other times whole packs shredded a fox and the other trap 10 feet away ignored. I think they get in that killing frenzy and nothing else matters, no smells, no nothing. like me if someone mentions the XXX.

Don't be giving them any ideas for new videos, that'll probably be the next attempted fundraiser. ;D

"a coyote is too sneaky and chicken heaerted to attack a cat single handed"
Bob, I got to differ with you on this......I ran into a killer coyote this last winter in New Mexico that give me fits for about week before picking him up...He killed two grey fox and a bobcat before I got him caught.
The bobcat that he killed never had a chance, a 2 year old female with both front feet in the trap. Luckily he only fed on one hind quarter and I was able to salvage the bobcat pelt.
I actually loose more coyotes to lions than I ever loose in bobcats to coyotes.

I've always kind of wondered about the bobcat killing by coyotes thing....I have several friends who seem to have an exceptional number of cats killed (lost) by coyotes but I never do (with the exception of the one mentioned in the post above).
One of the things that I know that I do differently than these guys is that I trap the coyotes, I want them all (I believe in management of the resource). The other guys with the bobcats being killed do their level best to not catch coyotes as they just don't want to even skin one. I always just figured if you were to lazy to catch and manage the coyotes in an area then you deserve to loose some bobcats to them but....(that just my opinion!)
I also always wondered if there was not a tremendous difference in the numbers of bobcats lost to coyotes between a 48 hour check and a 72 hor check time??

robert, look at those guys ck times. in every case they are working very very extended cks. a cat wilts real fast and is easy pickings in just 72 hrs, let alone weeks as some of those guys run. personally I think it`s b.s. , but we`ve been over that many times and they think they are all special or something ,and flesh isn`t fleash if it`s on a critter. any excuse to make the $$$$$$. and I`ve heard them all.
