I've always though tat a catch circle - whether snow or bare ground- just makes things better. In snow, the added visuals are a bonus and for sure the added scent is a suspcion remover, IMO. I do feel, just a hunch- that coyotes dick around more with sets in snow.

Well, if earth is frozen.... Stake a clean trap in the original trap bed and keep this trap in working order... A light snow on top of circle will bring a catch or two if coyotes are there.
If the earth is not frozen... you better move your set.

I know a lot of people don't like remakes for Coyoyes, but here in IL I don't have a problem with that at all!!
If I catch 1 in a set I know it will produce more, My best set produced 7 and I've had countless 6's, remake to a dirt hole, flatset, post set, really doesn't matter, but I think the best or at least the one I like best is some type of hole set with bait. I NEVER change the trap as I think it all smells the same there after the catch, heck its so strong I can smell it.....B....

I've caught 2 coyotes with a fox in between on the same trap, trap bed, catch circle and all. I just scraped up the duff for backing and made double dirt hole. Must depend on their mood?

I dont have much problem catching coyotes in remakes, but like having a fresh set close by if i feel more yotes to be had. If good location that should catch more, I add a set, if so so location that doesnt catch alot most years but handy to check, ill just stick with the one set. Unless real muddy or deeper snow where remake will stand out for a long time, I dont feel it makes much difference after a week. i have found I do real well on a fresh set next to a catch with a turd, urine and touch of gland lure.. Ill ring out the a**holes and cut up fine with a knive, cover with fresh bladder urine and use that for a lure at these sets. Ill mix fox, yote, and cat glands in same bottle. Get tired of having 6 oz of fox glands 9 oz of coyote glands and 5 oz of cat glands so I just mix them all up fresh and use it.

I havent had problems catching them in remakes, I just didnt know if that big bare spot in the snow would complicate things or not. I would have to say the only problems I have had this year are a back injury and access to about 12000 acres of ground falling through at the last minute! Talk about a real downer, I guess Ill just have to go back through what I have and mop up the stragglers!

if mopping up the stragglers doesn't work, you could always try terraserver for aerial photos, followed by a plat book search, followed by knocking on some new doors.
