T35- I'm a bit north of the Root River system and don't get close to it. The Mississippi really isn't a trappable area- Sure one could trap the high spots in the marshes, even some of the islands- but #1 the duck hunting/fishing pressure would be a nightmare and #2 the % would be so low that it wouldn't in any way be worth the effort.
I do however trap the ridge farms above the Mississippi. On many of my farms, I have a panaramic view of the Ole' man.
The biggest problem is probably access...I shouldn't say problem, but factor. Most parts of the farm are not accessable except by shank's mare...and while I do walk a few places, I haven't the time or inclination to walk to a lot of them. The other concern is visibility- that of passerbys seeing yotes in traps.
So its often set where I am able...and wait til its my turn.
Don't think I have al lthe answers- I constantly question my management methods. and to be clear- all my line is not static....I pull loops and set up new areas as I go. Set up 3 new locations yesterday, 3 more today and the same tomorrow...then Im riding it out for the final week.
Had a decent day today on my wore out line- part of it 4 reds- never before got 4 in a day. If I would have pulled after a week, I'd have taken zero reds today.
I try to ride that line between staying and moving....
and I do know...I'm not that stuborn...that on some locations, I'm trying to catch coyotes hanging in the shed.
