"are there coyotes that simply CANNOT be taken in a foothold?"
No.
"Control, if it is your job, is easy. If calling, M-44s, snares, etc don't work..gas up the plane...."
Hmmm, I'll try to remember that. Just gas up the plane huh?

" No." You westerners.... ;D Explain yourself. Would I be correct in assuming that you believe that a coyote CANNOT become "wise" to footholds? Not the concept of "a trap"...but for the many mundane reasons I listed previously... If so, would a pure blind set then be the answer? ----------------------------------------------------------------- They took your plane? baastards!

I can`t say there is no coyote on earth that can`t be caught in a foot trap, might be one somewhere I havn`t met yet! Absolutes are never absolute. Me personally, seen plenty it wasn`t worth my time to catch so I skipped town, but never seen one yet I couldn`t catch. If he is flaky about smell, then don`t smell, if he is flaky about fresh dirt, then don`t fresh dirt, if he is flaky next to the sheep or his den, then don`t set there. We are humans, can read, speak, send a man to the moon. Coyotes are just poor ignorant animals that just happen to have better eyes, ears and noses than us. So we use our brains and they can`t compete with us, we win, they die, just that simple.

pull traps, get in truck, drive off and set easier pickings! As was elaborated above by someone, big difference in adc and numbers trapping. I can change hats at will, and do so regularly as the situation demands. Pay money, catch all that are there when I am there. No pay and stay till it no longer makes cents(pun intended)

Ya nut...I know what it means to leave town... What I was curious about was- did you try to take him with a little special effort...or you just didn't care?

they took my plane to, and my calling couldn't call in anything if I tried, and I can't use snares...but, what the hell is an m-44? and how do I get one?

as long as the general line is active and a place is economical to stay ,miles and time wise ,I`ll put in sucker sets for the last few, but if the whole line is wore out , and not an adc situation, I have no regrets leaving- knowing I took the cream and then some. Long shots at a cat in a coyote set will make me stay longer too, fiddling with a flaky coyote. Just line management and business decisions wether to stay and fiddle or go on to a whole line of fresh easy dummies. It`s all management of time and miles for the best return, and each situation has a little different twist that only many years of experience can judge the best thing to do. I still goof up, my worst trait is staying too long. No one likes to leave if still tracks there. It takes more smarts to know when to move on than when to stay. Plus laziness plays in as it is easier to just keep running a wore out line than to pull and hammer in a whole new line. If it is harder work, that generally is your best decision moneywise for return to investment in time and miles. Easier to say than do , as we all know that have been there done that. I think it was carrol black where I first heard " the money is in setting traps, not checking them" I have never forgot that and it is always true. Give me 100 first day checks over 50 week old cks any day .
