This year looks better than probably the last four years. Sign every where. Lots of fox sightings. I just hope they find the pan. Farmers begging me to come catch coon.
Yotes running around.
It just might be the year that my expectations get met. Going to maintain the most traps I have ever done.
Needless to say two weeks away and I am ready.
As far as movements go. I find that if we have a front to come in early in the morning (ie 3:00 am)the night catch is up. But if it comes in during daylight it will be two days after it moved out. Just enough time to get the sets clear of snow and what ever else washed over them.

Bob,
I'm with you on drafting old guys. It would be better than losing the young guys.
I guess that's easy to say when we know they won't take us.
I wouldn't be much for the infantry, maybe cavalry or sniper duty.
Yeah I've fought the anti's plenty. Trapping gave me some of the best years of my life. I've always felt the need to give something back.

The day is coming when we'll all be too old and frail to even get out of the house, let alone run a trapline. Then we would gladly take any window of opportunity we could get. Mud, rain, fur prices ect won't seem like such a big deal then.

bussro, you are right, I now find trapping a few rats fun again. I couldn`t afford to do that for many years. Just seeing a `possum waddling along brings a smile to my face. I`m an easy keeper now, and I used to be real high maintenance. I guess just the lords way to make aging go smooth.

Ha Bob,
I've turned into a rat trapper again myself. Went one night last spring and four nights the spring before.
Kinda felt like a kid again. It was a lot of fun.
Right now I'm getting ready to do battle with snow in the high passes and mud in the lower country. That doesn't make me feel like a kid again.
