I use the high rolling hammer and the bc auger. these tools are the best by all means and worth e/penny I paid for them. I tried alot of junk in my younger days. when your serious about your work you get serious tools.when I have to remove a disposable stake I run the auger down beside pull up on the cable run a screwdriver through it, and it is ready for the next set

My wife Tammy bought me one of those heavy hammers with the piece of steel welded on the end for digging out dirtholes. Sure is nice to have a wife that buys ya trapping stuff !! ;D Before that I used a small tool that looked like a garden hoe.

yes buckeye, i dig dirtholes with the ground hog caven sells, i drive stakes in also, and fine tune the trap bed with it. i dig trap beds with a forest survice axe/ grub combo with a long handle but i trap within 100 yards of the truck. me method kinda goes like this. i pull up, chunk 2 or 3 traps at some kind of low backing (tuft of grass) ten or 15 feet apart. then with the axe/grub combo i hoe out all 3 trap beds before i even kneel down at the first set. once on my knees i use the ground hog and go from set to set finishing them lure and all. i set 3 traps like this in less then ten minutes if things go well.

I always have a High-Rolling Hammer of one size or another in one of my trapping bags (setting or checking).
When trapping right out of the truck, I use a Dewalt 24 volt Hammerdrill with an auger bit Rich Kaspar made me for my dirtholes. A tile spade for the big holes.
When I have to walk a little farther, it's a smaller trapping trowel.
