I wounldnt even cosider using anything but Pogos for 15 bucks you can buy 100 plus your cable. It isnt worth my time to make some that arent any better. Pogos just wont stick to the diver an you dont have to worry about mud an dirt cloging up the holes. I use 1.5 in on dry ground and 2 inch in the water they hold great even in loon poop and sugar sand. RR

If you have access to a milling machine you can make them. You can buy a tip to weld to your own driver for 12 bucks or the allready made up driver is only 22. I plan on buying an extra one this yr just in case somthing happends to mine or I drop it in the river. RR

I'm a POGO guy...Like RiverRat said, easy to make and cheap...Allot will depend on your soil condition...If you are trapping farmland, a 12 inch cable on a 1.5 fender wacher will hold a hippo...
Typically, the softer the soil, the longer the cable and larger the washer...
Yes, You can manke a POGO driver...Like mentioned above, if you have access to a milling machine, piece of cake...If not, a bandsaw and dremel tool will get you through...The most important thing about using a POGO driver is to make sure you LOAD the washer fully...
Some people will simply place the washer in the slot and forget to "SEAT" the j-hook (Bad news)...You'll get away with doing this until you hit the first big rock, then it's splitsville... It when you seat the J-hook that makes the driver act like a SOLID bar and prevent the end from splitting appart...(Been there and learned the hard way) Haven't had a problem since...

Ok guys, How many of your Earth Anchors are retreiveable? I only know of one that is actually retreiveable ;D Those are made by Ron Marsh up there in PA. I used them last year and liked them alot. the driver only cost $5.00 and the stakes themselfs are $15.00 a dozen. 2 sozen Stakes and Driver is $30.00. I think ya should look into them, NickB sells them. woody

Bershires are retrievable, but at $11 a dozen, I leave them in, as time goes on, I waste them less and less.

Those retriveable ones would be nice But they require twice the cable and cost 15 a DZ when I can get 100 for the same price it anit hard to get em back out with a spade. RR

Don't need a spade to get these out ;D they come out the same hole they went in I like the 18 inches of cable, that gets them down far enough to hold the big song dogs we have here ;D But, Like DJ said, its a loaded Question everyone likes what they like for one reason or another. the best thing for Chub to do is get some and try them and see which he likes and fits his style of trapping Hows that for an easy way out

RR, those RCS, comes already put together and ready for the ground. so the amount of cable shouldn't be an issue But each to his own woody

Woody your right about that one everyone likes somthing different, just wanted to point out for those that dont know the other stakes will come back out the same hole too. When ya slide a spade down beside it , it loosens the soil and it pops right out. It donsnt require digging. RR

Pogo's work great for me, I'll wear out a driver in a year but I drive a lot of washers in hard clay that will eventually spread the slit open. I'm a machinists and can hardly justifiy the time of making one for 22 bucks. You can save on the washers if you shop around by a small margin. I did find a 50 lb box of the 2" ones that are kinda hard to find.
