Large migratory flocks in the fall, with a few year round residents. I want to kill thousands of them. Any one ever done it? Any tips?
Residential surrounded by large fields.

call your USDA office and talk to them. they should be able to help you out. around here, we call that target practice ;D

Quiet air rifle. Preferably with a supressor if allowed. Works great out here.

Traps. Properly set up they can take hundreds at a time. Be careful about Grackles and non-targets before you gas or start shooting.
