Interesting so far. I was trying the per job but it has been a hard sell. Just did the per mole and it seems okay. But I do see a problem with the per mole way. Per mole you could get some people removing moles on you at least per job your getting paid no matter what.

After a few hundred jobs the lite will go on as to pricing and the best way to go. One reason the bounty system doesnt fly well is due to interference factor and it will happen. The flat rate doesnt create this concern.
You must as a good business practice always be compensated for your time whether successful or not. Time vested facts.
You will have an occasional job where you many never catch a mole for many reasons. Now you have a set up invested, did 3 to 5 checks and no moles to show for your time or effort. So now you just dont charge any fee? Or just a set up fee only?
A flat rate mole job based upon the sign and your past experience has been our best method of pricing havng done both methods over the last 27 years.
Using a flat rate pricing structure allows a better value for your customer many times that have a higher then normal projected mole catch potential. Some may only have 1 mole, but still you have time vested (travel and gas) and trap rotation time invested in each job when trying to clean things up in all the affected areas.
Whether you factor in time vested in your initial set up charge or figure you will make your money at the mole capture end you need to cover all the bases to satisfy the job adequately and to cover expenses and a good profit margin.

We mostly use a flat rate per month. On some small lots we quote a per animal, but those always cost more than the flat rate.

I wish I could make a flate rate work on moles. I just don`t have a enough customers willing to do it. Sometimes they are scratching up change to pay for just one or two moles!!! I don`t charge a set-up fee on moles either. It`s so straight forward compared to large species. It`s just an easy walk around the yard. I then only check those traps every few days (usually). Most of my customers I would trust with my credit card... "most." I believe customers remove about 2-3 moles a year that I can`t prove. I just don`t do business with them again. It`s pretty difficult for most customers to remove the catch and replace the trap to it`s original set or sprung/missed condition. Most watch the traps and call me when they are sprung. They really seem to like being involved. Keep in mind, I`m just a small operator. I`m sure things would change in the BIG city! lol
