Does anyone have any suggestions on a bird pecking a window? It does it about 6-7 hours a day.

I have a bluebird doing the same to my window (not to that extent, though).
haven't tried it, but supposedly, a sillouette of a hawk taped to the window works.
guess I should try it. good luck...let us know what works.

Improved Cylinder with 8 shot.

O-K , when I first read this post, I thought how strange. But , starting @ 5;00p.m. friday night . A male cardinal has been jumping up and flying into our window of the family room. You go to the window, there he is in the bush or sitting on the cement of the porch. He see's me and flies away, only to return. He did this all day Sat and all day today so far. I've never shot a cardinal and really don't want too.

I killed one one time.
Had to.
She built a nest right outside my window and the male would do the mating call for hours while I had to sleep.
Killed him just so I could get to sleep when I got home from work.(3rd shift)
She went out and found another stud.
Killed her and then I could sleep again.
You just do not realize how loud they really are until you have one making that racket 4 feet from your head.

I have a few of the spring activated net bird traps. They are basically a single catch device but work very well in certain applications. They can be set horizontally or vertically. Bob Best I believe makes them.

Try hanging the reflective side of a CD....won't work if the sunlight doesn't hit it though.

Andrew, I have used those particular traps on woodpeckers, by permit, and also a new laser actuated device incorporated from the same type of trap on sparrows & starlings...both have worked well. Regards, Mike

we had a robin doing the same thing for 10-12 hours aday this spring. made a mess of the window and my porch. All day long, just fighting the window (of course his relfection in the window).
A well placed BB ended that problem

What you observe with birds pecking on windows is a territorial behavior. They see their reflection in the window and attack the intruder. Anything that stops the window from being a mirror will stop the behavior. Or a load of number 8 shot. :>)
