Ok, up front I'm biased about this training event. I've been a staff instructor for the last two years and this year I'm the Program Director which means I'm putting together the presenters and schedules.
With that said, I still hope you will all take my advice to heart and consider attending this year. The reason I agreed to be the PD this year is because I love this event. I've been to many over the years and to me there is nothing else out there that comes close to touching this both in quality and quantity of training as well as being a blast when it comes to fun.
Here are some things for your consideration
The event has 50 hours of training classes. Classes on Monday - Thursday start 8 am to 9 pm (as per the schedule that is, in the last two years we have included additional classes and discussions that ran until midnight or after). Sunday classes are 3-pm to 9 pm and Friday is 8 am to 12 noon.
Many hours are in the field. We spend an entire day out of the classroom. We go out to areas and have demonstrations and hands on setting of equipment, trapping woodchucks, moles etc. We also have an instructor bring in a metal brake to show how its used and how to bend metal for damage repairs. There will be a ton of traps and equipment for everyone to use.
This year Bird Barrier is coming to give their full course of instruction, 7 hours. Half of those hours are spent with the products and building samples, netting in a frame and other exclusion products so you see and feel the product, understand its installation and you have samples to bring home that you can show customers as to what products you use.
As a bonus, everyone attending will receive a certificate from Bird Barrier that you are a certified installer of their products. Everyone will also receive a gift certificate in the amount of $25 towards their first purchase of any products from them.
This Year Copperfield Chimney Supply is presenting as well. They will be presenting 6 hours of classes on Chimney caps, top dampers, damper doors, chimney repair and more. They will also be presenting outstanding classes on customer service. This is the very first chimney training course of instruction designed just for our industry. Everyone will receive a special certificate of attendance for these classes.
The price, I'm waiting for a confirmation, the hotel and catering fee changes each year and when we have those confirmed with them I'll post the exact fee in a reply here. It's probably around $1,300. Some of you just stopped reading right here LOL !! I know it sounds expensive but read on.
Included in your fee are...
The Event itself and all the instruction you will receive
Your hotel bill is included in the price, your not paying the hotel on top of this. (we use the buddy system, if you know someone that's attending and wish to share the room with them we can arrange that, or we assign room mates, works out super and folks make great friends this way).
For those flying in to Fort Wayne Airport, we will pick you up on Sunday and bring you back on Friday.
You will receive the hotels continental breakfast each day (and its good !) as well as (outstanding !!) Catered Lunch and Catered Dinner.
Soda, coffee, water, snacks are provided all day as well.
Your academy handbook and all additional handouts
A Graduation patch and Certificate
(additional patches and shirts will also be on hand for additional purchase).
Everyone will also receive a business card wallet. (We started a tradition last year, everyone brings a stack of business cards and we put one of each into everyone's card wallet so you can stay in touch with the new friends and business associates your going to meet here).
Everyone gets a door price ticket each morning Monday - Thursday (excellent products raffle at the end of the week!!)
(special raffle, Ill give a 32 ounce bottle of Kirks Gold Magic to the first attendee that sees my teeth fall out during a presentation and shouts "there they go !!!) LOL !
And, The classes that are held here are evaluated for credit hours towards NWCOA CWCP, nearly half the credit hours needed to obtain CWCP can be earned at this single event.
One of the features that I really like is the location. I love Vegas and all there is to do there but at this event there is not much to do other than train and get to make friends (and EAT !!!!) . There is a HUGE Wal-Mart and a Staples and fast food places all right across the street but that's about it. There is very little distraction from the event itself.
Below are some of the classes planned for this year (besides the Bird Barrier and Copperfield classes)............
Squirrel Control

Tim Julien
......and we are still confirming others.
I highly suggest that those of you that are considering some intense training, a whole lot of fun and making friends for life that you budget some funds and schedule this time to be here. Heck, its only the cost of a few squirrel jobs. I take that back, its not a cost as all, its the best investment you can make. Taking a week off from your business may seem hard to do, and it is, but this event can and will change your business and your income for life. What I learned the first year just about moles increased my business income by 20% in one year, and I repeated that again last year. This is a must attend event for serious business owners, new and old. Hope to see many of you there in April
(class size is limited to I believe 50 attendees, register early !!!!)
