yes TC- if you came out and said that Montanas were kind to fox- I'd have to say- all the fox I caught in mine and all the fox that just about everyone else that took fox in them contradicts that.
Everyone that I talk to that I sold Montanas to ( with 1 exception) that took fox- - The first thing we said was "they are not a fox trap"
So yes- I would call such a study bogus.
I used to use a saying years ago- time to bring it out again.
Just because you say it is so- doesn't make it so.
Show me facts. Show me facts that can be duplicated in repeat studies and more importantly in real life.
THATS good science.
"Facts" thas contridict real life....now thats bad science...

Tman are you a member of the NTA? If you where I would have thought you would have read the editorial. Tom is not going to print false hoods, if he states and he does, that 4 models of the 1.5 double jaw have passed well then I'll beleive him! If you choose not too, wait for the report then. You think all traps should pass a coon BMP? Then why do one? and what injury score would we need? To show creditability to all other past and present testing. If Toms report is true, you have 4 models of 1.5 dj that have passed. Have you used them extensivly for coons? I'll tell you I have killed many a coon and know there habits well, I have always been fortunate to use snares, I found that to best suit me. I water trapped as a kid, the only water species I trap anymore are beaver, mostly snares and conibears. Why pay rising trap cost/risk theiving when I can build a snare for coon at .90 and trap all road right aways, gives me fast easy access to many ,many coons.Zero cut feet with neck snared coons. Born in Iowa the "coon belt" you can't find a state more ripe with coons. Running 60-65 snares common days of 10-15 coons and many more with hounds, walkers and black and tan silent trailers. I'm sure you have foot trapped many more coons than I and I'm sure I have snared hundereds more than you, but all traps passing the test? They can't go back against what they have approved, and if they do the Vet Groups will have egg on there faces for sure. We change the threshold and all anti groups would have cried fowl in a big way, you don't beleive that? Then what does that do to the crediabilty of all test done? There looking for a flaw and then to pounce in this deal. Look you don't like the coon BMP fine, wait for the data and then find away, I think your stubborn and don't care about better tools, you want to use what you have been, I have no problem with that, but we must look at the future, don't you think the timing of the "grizz" was right? He new exactly what he was doing when he built that coon trap, one of the best sellers in a long time. Glen Jr will have the mj500, and I'm sure as the day is long it will be tested in future East Coyote BMP's and yes it will pass. There is a reason these products have been hitting the market don't you think? I'm done carry on the fight Tman.

Also I don't know what month these where done, I can find out, and repeated studies? who is footing that bill? There are many traps and species to test yet, and many more will be tetsed again in each species catagory. Real life defined as what? The studies are done with trappers setting the equipment in there means, ideals and thought process, the tech takes data and hands out the traps, are you saying some trappers threw the coon bmp and did setting procedures they don't normally do?

who is footing the bill? who cares? Do the study right if at all.
an editorial- by definition- is opinion. Tom Krause isn't a God to me- hes a trapper with an opinion. I get American Trapper but I don't read it. between actual trapping, life and this co,puter mags are low on my list to do. Frankly- and no disrespect to the man- it doesn't matter what his opinion is on the coon bmps- it doesn't have any effect or impact on mine. Why should it?
You say you are a water trapper. Know any water trappers that don't want the coon and mink on their lines? not any that trap to make money-
Mink/coon fox/coon.
Get it?
Are you tellng me a 1.5 double jaw is an acceptable coon land trap? If so- your inexperience is showing. Its not. People wnder why they cannot catch coon consitently in dirt- well brother- I got no trouble cause I know what tools to use.
and thats the last word on this- you are repeating yourself as am I. If you want to start a NEW thread to debate the protocal- do so.
You a Godfearing man? better start praying that they don't do a snaring bmp-
it will make the coon bmp look like a picnic o na sunny day....

and many more will be tetsed again in each species catagory.
And then this is where we will get screwed on the coyote one.
