Where is a good place to buy a fleshing beam from? I'm going to try and put up my spring beavers with a grizzle getter and necker 600. I've never fleshed before. Selling green the last few year I fell like I'm leaving to much money on the table.

you can order beams from about any supplier, but shipping will be very high.
I've never used one, but I've heard some like a bigger pvc pipe as a fleshing board- with some mods i'm sure

I flesh mine over my knee alots of time. Not bad way to do it but your knife has to be sharp!

RdFx- I know older beaver guys that do it the same- they make it look effortless as I'm sure you do-
If I fleshed my beaver, I would think skinning case would be the way to go- or am I missing something?

When you skin cased as you do and flesh on the beam do you obtain the preferred oval shape that the market prefers. Photos would be great to see if they are available.

You would be better off to make your own.
Most of the commercially made ones are not flat enough IMHO.
Me personally I use a 14 inch piece of pvc but that's because that is what I learned on and I am comfortable with it.
Some day I'll change as I think I could be faster on a wooden beam.

Make one . Take a hardwood board , shape it like a stretcher and round off the top.
I made mine with hand tools.

Bryce, When you skin cased, you ring the tail and the feet. Then cut the back feet off. Make a cut from the tail to about 1/3 way to the head. When you skin, you have to work the hide over the bones the back feet are attached to. After you are passed the hind quarters just case skin normally. After fleshing, finish your belly cut all the way to the bottom lip. It ends up the same shape as skinning them the standard way.
