Wanna race. Went on a little rat run the last three weeks so I splurged and bought myself a birthday present. ] Well Happy Birthday Steven by golly and congratulations on the "new tool"! Rat money turned black & blue eh??!! ;D. You said one was going to show-up. . Race hell!! After not riding a sled for 40 years I opened mine up for a couple of short bursts last week and almost rolled my butt off the back of the sled!! I swear my feet came up as high as my ears!!!! . Gotta learn to hang on I guess but than again, I've found that 10mph is about right for eye-balling coyote tracks. ;D. I got her on and off the tilt-bed trailer with no problems at all, easy as pie. My Tundra's skis are 39" outside width and last week I went mies on nothing but deer hunters foot paths through tag alder and huckleberry swamps and bogs, ridge to ridge, swamp to swamp many places I was barely able to get through without cutting something but if I aimed her, she went!! . It is everything I'd hoped for and more! We'll have to wait until next year to see if my "coyote-on-the-seat" is as pretty, if not as many $$ but as nice your pretty "rat-pile-on-the-seat" photos ! Love the reverse for sure!

Everyone should buy a nice present for themselves when they hit the big 50.

Everyone should buy a nice present for themselves when they hit the big 50. You may turn 60 before I turn 50 buddy. Rat traps are hung up. All muskrats are skinned and got a few left to stretch. I'm taking hte new ride to the lake and it aint coming home. Maybe me either. Seldom, I'm slowly starting to slow down. I hit a pressure ridge about 35 miles an hour this winter with the four stroke. Any idea how high off the ground the front of a 9 foot sled is when the back is 3 4 feet off and the maching is about verticle. Lucky I never got hurt.

Yeah, those pressure ridges when there's a bit of snow blowing along the ground are near to impossible to see. Even worse in low light! Been there myself a few times.
In high school a friend of mine hit one when we were young and stupid and didn't even know what happened. Found him on the ice laying on his back asking where his sled was. Turned out he had a pretty severe concussion.

A guy was killed up here on Burt lake this weekend , hit a pressure crack, it was on the news this morning. Wife and I came accross Black yesterday, really nice but had a big pushed UP crack, anyone speeding in the dark would go flying. Jim

Machine road it out good. Rider not so good. Bent the handlebars and broke the windshield. Seldom, going off the back of the sled aint so bad. Its over the front that sucks. I've been on the hood twice this year. I may slow down, but probably not lol. The new one with the rider foward design will help tremendously with the ability to stand up and drive like its natural. The last time I layed on the hood I was only going five miles and hour through the cattails and they stopped me dead. iIf you are Standing up, your going over. Not with the new one. Problem is I wont use this one for trapping alot for several years. At least I hope. Mostly on excursions from home for reliability and fishing. There is a line up of three bearcats in the yard now. Still got the four stroke. I'll never sell it. Its too easy on gas. And old faithfull. Between me and the kids we still put 500 miles a year on it. I used it some for trapping this winter. Its a good sled to beat the hell out of when there is little snow. Nothing is for sale around here John. Too many kids to take fishing and not enough machines.

4 stroke is good on gas but how is it when you want to start in cold weather? Guys are toting power packs or removing their batteries at night around here.
Some even have block heaters. But they are tough to plug in when you're in the bush for a few days.

with a decent battery 20 below isnt a problem for me.
30 it gets a little tougher.
Alot of it will depend on if you are using it everyday keeping the battery fresh.
They arent "bush" sleds, but than again I dont live in the bush.
If I was gonna trap "the bush" the bottom one would be my tool of choice.
But if you are in the bush for only a few days bring one of them battery booster packs. They dont have a lot of compression, so turn over pretty easy.
But really there isnt even much of an excuse to not have power in the bush.
1000 watt generator will run a long time on a gallon of gas and with the mileage on the four strokes pushing 20 you'd haul less gas in the long run.
Thing about them that would make the most nervous is relying on a starter and not having a pull starter backup.

I'm seeing more and more of them. The guys are bringing booster packs. It's one more thing to carry when you already have lots to carry. Others take the battery out for the night and bring it into the camp. One more thing to do when you already have lots to do.
I was talking to a guy that caters to touring tourists. He said that his garage was full at night and they didn't have enough outside plugs for all the snow mobiles. They spent lots of time boosting machines every morning.
But they are good on gas and quiet. Plus they don't stink.
Supposedly a 4 stroke Bravo is coming out in 2014.

I am not a sled head......but I DO like the idea that my Tundra only goes about 40 MPH! Heck, on the cowling where the speedometer should be, its just hard plastic with nothing there!
No need to know exactly how slow you are going!
Big sledding country here with almost a death or major injury every weekend.....
I am more of a pontoon boat kinda guy, I guess!

Couple of the RTL guys got stuck in the camps last year, they traded them in After this sale one dealer had 6 tracked quads put on hold with marten money.
