Isn't that what trappers say every year at this time? All depends if you have what is bringing the most $$$$$. 50 high end cats some years would nest a guy a good paycheck, other years rats, coons etc.
A few years back I hit a good ranch for bobcats took 12 off one ranch 2 small females the rest all really nice cats 20 miles from home and 3 day checks made this a profitable deal!

how about some predictions?
I think coon will be very good and may be the "hot" item- averages in upper 20s, maybe low 30s
I think coyotes, after talking to a few people, might be the downside- lots unsold and countrywide averages low 20s
I think mink will be close to country averages of $29-30 males and $17-18 females
beaver $30 averages
I don't think rats are going to be as high as some hope, and think there is a limit on their price but I don't think they will crash either. I think once the dust is settled, that overall averages will be $1-2 higher than the last country averages, so around $12-13 average

I think Steve is pretty "warm" on predictions. Rats I too feel there is a ceiling. How much higher I don't know. I think a lot of buyers were paying more this year hoping to get some as there is a quick turn over item. Making $1.00 per rat is not bad if the volume is there and you just move them from one place to another. I we will see if they are working on lower margins or the market moves. I am guessing about $1.00 more per rat on average. Last year my average was $12.20. This year looking at over $13. My grade was harder this year for quality and size.
Coons My last year's average was $21 gross with about 40% 2xl and smaller and fewer northern grades and about the same colors. This year I have 5% 11 grade coons and 31% 2xl and down with more northerns so with better size, a bit better grade and an upbeat market i am hoping for a good 40-50% increase in my average to upper 20s and low 30s.
My mink are not much two very good silky and two below average. Two top lot grinner again for what that is worth!

actually, if you have it, I'd like to see a pic of a top lot possum from our area, and what the price sold is. Do you have more there?

I don't have a photo of my fur. The two top lot grinners were both 4xl one was 31.25 inches on my small coon boards and the other 32.5 inches to the base! Both are pure white on the pelt side, no holes and both had a lot of grayish guard hair but brilliant while under fur and lots of it. Both caught between Christmas and New Years. Last year I had 4 of those.

Page after page of mink being sold for 100 120 plus.
I only have a couple predictions.
1. Is I think all should be pleased.
2. Pa. Flats are going in the toilet.
3. Anybody who quit or slowed down on the ranch fox are going to drown their sorrows in beer.
