been a 2 part water season- the first part warm and bare ground, but the last month has been ice and more ice.
really cuts down production to have 80% of your sets under ice- but breaking them free has kept me skinnng enough mink and rats to make it worthwhile. Have to say I'm shocked at how few the coon are- haven't taken this few since the mid 80s. We are definitely in a down cycle with coon
Yesterday opened up all the sets but 2 coon sets and 1 mink set(they will finish opening on their own) and will have a week of open water and mild weather- looking forward to it for the last push- next weekend snow and then a cold spell, and I'm not going to get caught in it so will start pulling later this week and finish up early next
if coon are every going to run, it's going to be this week- so sets are ready and we shall see. did get 1 coon yesterday, first in several weeks, and had a good run of mink, including my first cotton one in a lot of years. Still getting rats at each check, but numbers down from the "glory checks" in novemeber
in any case, another 6-7 days and I'm done.
for those that ship- what do cotton mink do at the sales? are they discounted as severely as they do local?

Cottom mink were always graded out and sold in a separate lot. Depending on the numbers sizes were mixed and the price was cheap. Jim
