let me ask a few questions-
anything in the shelter belts insofar as added attraction points?
where are they going at the end of the red dotted line?
do they feather out on both ends, and become random tracks?
when you say- "line of travel" what exactly are you meaning insofar as sign?

As T-man said, a bit more blocking might help, but sets like yours would work for me. These type sets have worked for me also, just not enough of the time. From Trappnman anything in the shelter belts insofar as added attraction points? - the point in the middle of the photo where the chaff set is, is the start of a ditch, the other point is just brushy with nothing specific, lots of rabbit tracks, but they don't appear to be hunting it much. where are they going at the end of the red dotted line? - To the West I don't know, I don't have permission, when they go to the East they go all over in the gravel pit. I now have a couple of sets in the gravel pit. do they feather out on both ends, and become random tracks? - To the West, don't know, to the East they go roughly everywhere in the gravel pit. I have caughi them in the pit but didn' try much earlier as it was being hunted hard by deer hunters. when you say- "line of travel" what exactly are you meaning insofar as sign? - Just tracks My thought process was to put the traps in those locations because that appeared to be one of the main routes to/from the gravel pit.

my summation is this- although the coyotes are travelling on your route, they are in travel mode, and not hunting or having a go to destination I DO think long, continous travelways have stopping points, but don't see that here. I agree, my first choice would be the gravel pit, where they are in hunting mode. I'd set in the rough stuff or on that field corner below the settling ponds. Then you are setting where they are going to" and as 1080 always says you will be catching them where they are more apt to be caught.
While I still like my traditional travel lanes, I'm trying to set locations that allow them to become aware of the set, and in the mind to work it. I've seen fresh tracks and thoguht- he acted like that set wasn't even there- and in many cases I think thats what happened, for him, at the time, the set indeed did not existent
