I do them on a bench-
grab one back foot, cut straight across to other foot- with mink, the legs don't need to be taut to make a good clean cut.
Work fur off of both back legs, then in turn pull each side st down to tail
flip over and grab tail, make small cut under anus, gather fur in turn on each side of tail , pulling to tail, cut across to anus cut. leaves pretty much zero fur on caracss
pull to front legs- work free, I slightly ring them and pop them,. don't like the long leg by 100% popping them like a rat
pull pelt tight in right hand- then ears, eyes, nose and I skin out the chin because I like doing so- old school don't you know
takes maybe 30 secs longer than a rat- I usually save the glands for personal use

I got a facial from a marten this year. No knicking was involved but a little too much pressure on the tail pulling was. It was something I could have done without.
I do all my small stuff from squirrels to marten with a vise. Tighten one foot and you're good to go.
Turtle: Now that is funny! Grandson is up tomorrow for a few days. Looking forward to reading with him. Tough to do because he can't sit still.
