This thread has been interesting to say the least. I know there are a few on here that would express there opinions that I have no reason to participate in any DP discussions since I am the inventor and manufacturer of the Grizz Trap.....so here goes.....
The push/pull vs. pull only claims.....no one has said that the push/pull trigger doesn't work, it does....however the pull trigger version has been on the market almost 10 years before the push/pull trigger was invented. Users of the Grizz Trap had 10 years to perfect the use of the pull trigger system.....many 1,000+ coon men have. I had talked to one of my original test trappers about the push/pull trigger and wanted his opinion. I was told the push/pull trigger for him would be a disadvantage....why? He has perfected the use of the pull trigger in the Grizz Trap. What are his credentials? He has caught over 14,000+ coon in Grizz Traps with his best year of 1,500. He is not alone. No need to fix what isn't broke. To make it more interesting, the trigger was the stock configuation, no modifications.
I could go on, don't really need to. The Grizz Trap is what it is and the good news is the V2 Grizz is close to becoming a reality.
Everyone have a safe and profitable season....take a kid trapping.

Gary, can you tell us more about the V2 Grizz? The V2 Grizz is basically a Lil' Grizz on steroids.....different tube shape, new trigger design, 3 different anchor systems and options for bolt on accessories. I have been asked many times if the V2 Grizz is going to have a push/pull trigger.....doesn't need one due to all of the testing that has been done. I can say more, just not at this time. Thanks for asking.... Gary

Gary if a push/pull works as you stated why wouldn't you incorporate it on your new trap? Do you feel a pull only is as effective minus so called non targets just talking coon numbers? Thanks

Thanks TC39, If the V2 Grizz came stock with a push/pull trigger, I would lose my Canadian certification due to the fact that Canada requires the use of a pull trigger only in DP's that are legal in Canada.....the Lil' Grizz and the Duffers is the only 2 legal DP's in Canada at this time. As for the pull trigger vs push/pull trigger effectiveness.....the pull trigger has been proven. The jury is still out on the effectiveness of the push/pull trigger.....I am not saying the push/pull trigger is not effective, it just needs to be designed better. When used correctly, the pull trigger can be very effective. When modified like the Sterling Grizz trigger, no push/pull trigger needed. The V2 Grizz pull trigger will go one step further, eliminating the need for the push/pull trigger. Since I manufacturer the Grizz Trap Series, the biggest hurdle in the design of the V2 Grizz was making sure that the new restraint bar, trigger, spring, etc., will interchange with the older style Lil Grizz Traps. No reason to have trappers retool when they can get an upgrade kit for their older Grizz Traps. For those who like to tinker, do the following..... Shorten the notch end of the trigger to 1/8th" or slightly less. Set the trap and make sure the end of the dog is slightly off the bottom of the notch of the trigger. Adjust the dog length by bending the tang on each side of the "eye" of the dog....up to decrease.....down to increase. The tang is where the dog "eye" is formed around.....use a small 6" crecent wrench or something simular. Will I ever offer a push/pull trigger? If I do it will be on another version of the Grizz Trap. Gary

how can the jury still be out on the push/pull? It has proven itself over and over for many coon trappers. Many have converted pull only to push/pull even your own brand I know has been converted by people.
My point being 1,000's of coon have been had in push/pull enclosed coon traps. I just don't see how the jury is still out?
I understand your marketing North of the boarder and all, but I think the 2 way trigger works well and is here to stay.
