For the guys using Carlis' rat clips on fiberglass poles, how are you anchoring your traps so they don't slide off the bottom of the stake when you pull it up with a catch?

I wire to the pole above the clips. It has worked well. Although muskrat numbers are way down here.

I run the pole through the trap swivel above the trap clip and below the bait clip. trap swivel is between the two clips. How did you get the trap to sit level? All my traps sit at an angle. I know they have to be bent but how did you do it?

I used my hands but it to took a lot of force. It does not seam critical to get level. I put two clips on each post. But have had a lot of single rat catches with both traps snapped or off the clip. Very few doubles, but again the rat numbers are way down.

Best way to do it is have a bait clip under the trap clip and a bait clip above. Trap dont have to be level. If you have some of the clips that go up or down make sure you put them on the pole sloping down. I just back from yur neck of the woods. Lots of shallow water a rat #s way down. When using in shallow water ( less than24") use only one trap clip per pole. I ran into the same thing (few doubles) with shallow water. Deeper water with the swivel below trap clip rat will go down and not come back up to knock other trap off. Mink are thicker than snott, found 4 kills on one slough opening weekend. You would see 3 to 5 mink a day.
