some days I see no one, others I see everyone it seems. yesterday started by pulling into a driveway, and having the farmer right there- he says good timing, need to talk with you -you caught neighbors dog yesterday, he wasn't too happy, but he was trespassing- but maybe should pull.. ok, no problem..we talked a bit and he says ah go ahead and leave them there- he should have learned his lesson after al he WAS trespassing. cool- he walks away, gets back on tractor, goes a little ways, gets off and walks back to me- says- you can trap here anytime, don't worry about coming to house, just trap whenever I wanted- I knew the farm way cool.... then down the road at a farm I've trapped on for 30 years, the farmer waved me down and said a deer just got hit day before on valley road- did he want me to drag it up into that corn stubble on top? why sure I do.................. and I also had a farmer drag twin calves out for me after asking where I wanted them- Nice to have landowners going out of their way to do me a good turn then had one coyote today, that was peglegged on rear leg- unusual enough in my area & thats 2nd one with a high stump in past week- and only 3rd lifetime for me.... and as I'm skinning, I see a snare on its neck- so- peglegged, snared and chewed out- now trapped..... but as they say, ".....there ain't no shame in being beaten by a master........" loose snare, no fur loss, last years snare I'm thinking by shape it was in- but look at the set up- a twist tie was used for the lock!

Crude to say the least! Sounds like you have some good folks in your neck of the woods! Last year i had a landowner bring me to roadkill deer and he even helped me load them in my truck to take in his pasture. Back to that "snare" if thats what you wanna call it... who ever set it probably didnt know to much! maybe a kid or an inexperianced individual.
Whats your theory on the peggers? Why two this year and only 3 your life... you thinking fence? trapping? hunters with poor aim?

Yes very funny could have used a dbl ferral for .06 or so and spent .65+ on the end loop and wouldn't spend .40 on a good lock that is reusable LOL. That twist tie lock is a joke the number of coyotes held is going to be nill. Not someone that should be snaring period.

Your story reminded me of an identical situation where I hooked up the neighbors dog. First he asked if I could pull the trap then he changed his mind and said "When the neighbor pays my property taxes then I will ask you to remove it" Rarely have I ever had any issues with farmers. So if cats have 9 lives how many lives did that coyote use up? ha ha. Nice snare I can't believe it didn't work. LOL

I have farmers that would of shot the dog for being on their property.

I have to say, when I saw it, I said WTF! could we safely say thats a CR, not a snare taken to the ultimate? some farmer I would guess never seeing a snare, but trying to act on his own..... I'm actually starting to believe old Bob on those peglegs- as I said, only taken 3 so hard to draw many conclusions. We don't have many tight wire or woven wire fences, very few in fact but am thinking that fences are the cause of the two this year- old ones with barb wire in disrepair maybe. the first one had about a 2 inch peg, front leg, my guess on that shot.

Used to catch them up in north central part of the state. I've never caught one this far south. Friend caught one two seasons ago down here, released it on a hope and a prayer.
When I was catching them up north the coyotes liked to use them as a pull toy in the trap. Get the needle and thread out!

10 for that flat sucker? I guess I need to sell my late November MO grays up north then?
That fox is lacking color and and fullness if you get 10.00 that is good money!
Are your coyotes filling out in the necks yet? Guard hairs look a little weak on your pics?
