Remakes, I love em it's why I'm there.
Do I restake or lengthen chain to get it to the edge? No, that'd take some time if you're catching much at all.
Do I pull that trap and place in dirty trap pile? Heck no, usually.
Do I place new set nearby? Nope, already 1 or more there.
I've talked about this with others and something stood out to me that guys who don't do well in em, about to the T, were the guys that relure with comercial lure. I will not do that. I will use blood or poop to my advantage if it's there. If the set sits there to the point I'm getting antsy, I'll squirt the attractor.
Another observation, after a mongrel catch, I don't do well in that set.
A couple that stick in my mind. 1 raccoon then 5 coyotes. A black bear, possum, coon, coyote, fox, coon. Glad I remade those ones, bent bear trap and all.
Of course I get what seem shy ones, There are "shy" ones to many sets not just remakes. I didn't read that from a book. It's just my thoughts after reading this, and anticipating season.
I anticipate that I AM going to catch in the remake. Lets get this party started.
With that said, I've never seen a badger in my life so wil shut up now.

Like the rest of you, I still have a lot to fine tune with my sets/spots, but I have to agree that my favorite sets are remakes...year in and year out, my remakes (using the same trap, same hole/backing, same bed) out produce my new sets hands down.

This Is all I'm saying. I use to trap coyotes for the fur market I killed them In the catch circle just like every one else does. Sure I caught coyote In the remakes and I also caught coyotes In the secondary sets. And I just scrubbed off the blood and other debris off the trap and put It back In place. Sometimes I dug out a dirt hole sometimes I made a type of fat set sometimes I created a walk through type set. They all caught coyotes. But not the next day. Sure there were some but It normally took a few days. Not sure why but that was just the way It was. Then I discovered the live market In SC. $100.00 $150.00 coyotes. I can tell you this I never skinned another stinking worthless coyote for at least 10 years. But The point I'm trying to make Is that once I started dragging the live coyote out of the catch circle and caging It I started having more next day catches In those re makes. In fact It was very obvious. But If there was a feral dog In that trap and we killed It at the site the was pretty much the kiss of death for that set. If we dragged that Incidental out of the catch circle and did the dirty dead the set seemed to produce like the others. I know It's probably not very practical for the fur trapper to do this but It sure seemed to make a difference for me In my situation.

in 4 days, have had 7-8 remake catches, 1 3 days in a row-
I find its not uncommon at all, to catch one the day after in same set
Why you have this problem is beyond my ken- I shoot em' and leave a blood puddle and it seems to matter not at all- but as chris said, if it works for you, you are doing it right
