Nitelite are a great value. They last a good while and are priced right! Are there better yep, but I can get a good trapline light for 125.00 and beat and abuse it, others are 400.00 plus.
I have used nitelites for many years for trapping, coon hunting, froggin and night fishing.

Ditto on the night lite being too heavy I have a Petzel ( there are many models) and works great, so lite you dont know its there , might change batterys a couple times but cheap. I also use it for xc skiing at night... Very good lite and doesnt even break when you do a header in the snow...LOL

Depends on wether you want to land a plane or just see to set a trap. I've had the same Petzel for over 20 years, used it hard and it still works, although I've retired it to get a lighter/brighter model. Petzel or Black Diamond you can't go wrong, but even the $10 ones that hook to the bill of your hat are much better than nothin.

I now have an adapter to use double a's. i think mine is over 25 years old. The elastic is stretched out but I canoed over a km. in the dark with it this a.m..I also bought an led one. It does not shine as far. If you keep a hood on over the battery, the light will stay brighter, longer in the cold.

" I got the latest model at 3600 lumens max.For comparison your car is 1400 lumen(the laws maximum)."
I guess that you could impersonate a train with that!
I'd like one but it's a lot of cash. the snow helps brighten things here. is it tough on batteries?

I had bought a NiteLite a couple of years ago and got rid of it after a season of usage. I hated it. Big, bulky and heavy battery; headlamp on the bill cap was too heavy and would cause cap to fall forward when I'd lean down. Beam was pre-set to forward position and was not adjustable for tilting down or up. The rig was a nightmare to use. I've replaced it with a Dorcy 120 LED lumens, broad beam headlamp. Runs on 3 AAAs for 12 hrs. Definitely not a high-end, Cadillac aquality headlamp, but adequate for my purposes- making and remaking sets. For a walking light, I use a Dorcy 180 LED lumens flashlight. www.dorcy.com/p-474-41-2096-120-lumen-headlight-broad-beam.aspxwww.dorcy.com/p-287-41-4750-180-lumen-led-flashlight-4aa.aspxBoth are not top end products, but they won't set you back a grand each, either.

Laugh all you want. To each, his own. I don't run all night like you do. An hour before sun-up and the lamp rides in the truck the rest of the day while I run the remainder of the line in total daylight. I won't drop a grand to use a head lamp for only one hour of darkness per morning.

Streamlight. I have had it a long time. When I got it I thought, sure it will last 140 hours on a set of batteries, like the booklet said. I think 140 is about right. Not the one you want if you want to light up the township, though.

not sure if your looking for a spotting beem light or predatot hunting light but i really like this one. www.allpredatorcalls.com whitch can be used for both, when it opens click on the gun and scop and then click on the first brand Wicked Lights and then run the vido. they are a little costly but well worth it.

I don't know what nitelite you guys are buying but mine isn't that heavy on my belt and the beam is adjustable and 80,000 CP is good enough for my uses. I can see catch eyes at 300+ yrds with it and plenty of light to walk and set traps if need be, again I'm not running all night either and works well. The head isn't heavy you need the bracket and get the wire to lay right on you and works great! I run mine inside of a jacket and then up my back no problems with light falling forward. When I coon hunted I went with a hotter light, but I'm not sprinting to traps when most sets are within 100 yrds or less of the truck. www.huntsmart.com/Tracker-Light-Package-Camo

if your looking for a good low cost light that will do the job just as good as most other lights, I have sold a lot of them, and owned a couple of these lights and they hold up just as good any. now I am not trying to sell lights here, just trying to help out a fellow Trapper, buy from them if you like, www.western-rivers.com

I have a black diamond that I have used for the last four years or so. I go through a few sets of AA batteries a year. I think it was in the $50-75 range when I bought it. I would buy another one without hesitation. Has a high and a low setting.
