He could have sold for a better avg locally instead of shipping that is the point he was making over what HE recieved SO FAR at auction. Let's stick the the discussion on this one, fur selling is all about timing and with certain items and harvest levels at times your better off selling earlier than later even if it means selling in the country!!!!
Maybe, maybe not.
Would have depended on when he would have sold local.
Before the february auctions the otter prices in the country werent that exceptional.
Same with rats, fox, mink and coyotes.
If you sold in the country before the february sale on those items you would have done less.
Even more so if you sold before the january sales.

I catch some very big otter in my area in fact had 15 to go in the 3xl pile in this sale as far as color 1/2 mine grade in the med pale the other half dark brown.I saw very little difference in color this year on the prices. My otter average within 5 bucks plus or minus every year within the overall market average my beaver usually are close also to the overall average. As for red fox coon and bobcats and yotes we have some ugly ones so on these items I never get my hopes up so I live market as much as possible .Simply put the Feb sale left me with some high expectations and overall I think the May sale wasen't good at all way to many buy backs will they bring good money when they sale who knows after all it is the fur market
