Yesterday I dump a beaver carcass in bushy ditch, today it was covered with leaves as though to hide it. Could not tell any tracks, but loosened some dirt so tracks may be exposed. What is your take on this., what could have done it?

Not sure about the bear thing I would assume that a bear would just pick up the beaver and carry It away.
dabrock Got any bears In your area?

I'm not saying in his area it was a bear- was responding to the comment that only cats cover stuff-
during the collaring program, the dnr here had a fawn killed and covered- and their best determination was bear- no cats here

A bear would haul the whole thing away. They do bury stuff but that's only when there are full. That bait is very exposed and I think a bear would have gone elsewhere to munch.
Ravens and such can stir up quite a mess if they are feeding as a group.
Are you certain that it is buried or "scattered" upon. With the ravens you'd see lots of crap, too.
I've never found where a lynx buried anything. I don't know that they do. Given that they eat primarily hares, i guess there isn't much left to bury.

Right on musher. That's why they cover bear baits with heavy logs or place the baits In barrels so the bear won't carry off the bait.
Yep never seen where a Lynx buried any kill. Trapped for 7 weeks In Canada and caught numerous lynx and if we didn't catch them and they couldn't carry the bait away they never covered It.

It was buried looked deliberate. Found bobcat tracks about, expect to catch what every it was. I agree a bear would have hual it away.
